Amendment to the “Regime Juridico de Urbanização e Edificação”

Recently, the Portuguese Government approved the tenth amendment to the Decree Law no 555/99, issued on 16^th December and known as “Regime Jurídico de Urbanização e Edificação” (Portuguese  decree law ruling the urbanization process in Portugal). With this amendment the Government aims: (i) to simplify the proceedings regarding urban developments subject to previous supervision; (ii) to widen the scope of the urbanization developments not subject to previous supervision; (iii) to also widen the range of operations subject to previous communication to the local authorities. 

 

Amongst other measures, the Government now allows the exemption of a previous consultation, approval or opinion issued by an entity within or out the municipality for the specialty engineering projects, provided that its legally licensed technical author undersigns a statement of liability.
